How can I boost my immunity naturally
Now we are at Alert Level Three it would be a good time to start boosting our immune system so you are ready to get into daily life with a bang. Especially as we are now heading towards winter.
Omega 3 oils, Vitamins A, C, & D, Probiotics, Zinc and Echinacea are great for boosting your immune system.
Omega 3 Oils (Fish Oil)
There are 4 types of omega 3 oils which are found naturally in flax seeds, chia seeds, green leafy veggies (ALA), oily fish such as salmon, sardines, and mackerel (EPA and DHA), and green-lipped mussels (ETA).
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is found in orange and yellow foods such as kumera, carrots, bell peppers/capsicum, zucchini/courgette, egg yolks, and apricots.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is found in berries, kiwi fruit, and oranges
Vitamin D
You get vitamin D from sun exposure so get out for a walk or bike ride but remember to slip, slop and slap. Even in the winter, we can get sunburnt.
Zinc
Zinc is found in pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, chickpeas, lentils, cocoa powder, cashews, yoghurt, mushrooms, and spinach (spinach artichoke dip anyone?).
Probiotics
Probiotics are found naturally in miso, raw cheese, kimchi, pickles, sauerkraut, and tempeh.
