COVID-19: 10 Steps to Stay Healthy While Isolating
As we have heard in the news lately, Covid 19 is a virus that we can all get, but it is more likely to have severe consequences for people with compromised immunity.
Here are a few suggestions to what you can do yourself to become and stay as healthy as possible, giving you a better fighting chance.
While you are in isolation her are 10 steps to follow to stay healthy:
- Exercise daily
- Get fresh air
You could combine these by going for a 20+ minute walk
(Keeping in mind good, upright posture and swinging your arms) - Get 10 minutes of sun exposure onto bare skin outside the hours of 10am – 3pm allows your body to create Vit D naturally
- Get a good night’s sleep, at least 7-9 hours (laying on your back is the ideal position)
- Breathe deeply on the hour every hour
(Try box-breathing: 4 second breath in, hold for 2 sec, 4 sec breath out, hold for 2 sec. Repeat for 2 minutes)

- Stay positive, try not to worry, laugh, chat to someone on the phone
- Do things you enjoy doing
- Eat healthy meals with more vegetables and fruit
(Reduce refined sugars, deep fried foods, processed foods, alcohol and tobacco) - Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day (approx. 1.5 litres)
- Keep a routine, try to avoid the temptation to get up late and stay up half the night
